Consa,

I've been unable to access your site for almost a week.

I've flushed my dns cache but that makes no difference.

Even on my pc at work I can only see about three threads and I can't post.

Do you know what the problem is?

Hi boughtin95,
It appears that the Norton Internet Security (firewall) is blocking access, you need to turn it off. You can use AVG free or if you are on a router it will already have a firewall built in

Hi Consa,

Thanks for the reply, you were correct that NIS is blocking access to your site.

I changed OS partitions on my pc and tried to access from the OS with Zonealarm installed instead of NIS, I can only load part of the page and cannot read all the threads or post.

This is the same problem I experience when trying to access from my work pc and I believe they use Kaspersky.

I think the problem is wider than just NIS.

Why has this suddenly happened, any idea?

Cheers,

Hi, we are still trying to establish the problem, what error messages did you get?

Hi Consa,

No error messages at all.

Simply a blank white page when using NIS and a partial page showing part of the site using the Zonealarm partition and on the work pc, which I now know uses Sophos.

When I try to read the threads I only get about 3 threads, it then breaks up into, what looks like, html code but only shows a few words like that.

If I try to post a reply the submit post button is missing.

Someone trying to close your site or problems with your host?

Cheers.

I don't think it is anything malicious, invision have flushed the firewall on our server to no avail, we are still attempting to track it, I will update you ASAP

I think the problem was the protected forum which I recently set up - this has now been removed - please let me know if the problem persists or if it is ok now
thanks

Hi Consa,

Unfortunately nothing has changed.

I still can't access from home or get a full page to load at work.

I've never experienced this with a forum before, it's odd.

Cheers,

Try clearing your cache and re-trying.
Should be fine now cos I have reverted to IPB 2.2.0 which was prior to our recent upgrade and I knew it worked fine.
Let me know please

Hi Consa,

IE cache, cookies, files and history cleared.

DNS flushed.

Ctrl + F5 pressed to refresh page.

No difference, I still can't access the forum, all I get is a blank white page.

Any new ads added recently?

Something is doing a great job of blocking the site.

Am I the only person being affected like this?

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

Hi, I am still not sure - tried reverting back to the previous version, the only difference was the upgrade but I am not sure now - we are working with Invision on this and hope to resolve the issue - It may be that Invision don't like the bandwidth we use up - we are looking into this as well possibly moving away from Invision as a last resort - hang in there - you are not alone

Hi Consa,

Thanks for the update.

I'm not too clued up on bandwidth etc, but what I find odd is that the site can be accessed when the software firewall (NIS on this pc) is turned off, this would lead me to believe that bandwidth isn't the issue.

Logically, this would make me think that something either on the site or the server is being blocked or misinterpreted as the page loads.

I say misinterpreted as the page partially loads when firewall other than NIS are in use but still fails to complete the load process.

As I could access the site, with no difficulty, until around 10 days ago, is it possible that your host has changed their setup, a new ad was put on the page or some other, apparently minor, change was implemented?

I wish I was able to do more to help.

Cheers.
